Kim Ha-seong’s All-Star dreams are ripe as he plays for San Diego in the Major League Baseball.
The American ‘The Athletic’ discussed the All-Stars in its Major League Baseball power rankings on Thursday (KST), and predicted San Diego’s Kim Ha-seong’s chances of playing in the All-Star Game.
“The San Francisco Giants’ Tahiro Estrada is the favorite to make the All-Star team at second base in the National League, but Luis Arajuez 스포츠토토 (Miami Marlins), Nolan Gorman (St. Louis Cardinals), Ketel Marte (Arizona Diamondbacks) and Ha-Sung Kim (San Diego) are not guaranteed,” the publication said.
Kim, along with Nick Martinez, is the most likely San Diego player to make the All-Star Game. Among them, Kim was mentioned as the favorite to make the team, ranking third in the National League in fWAR (fangraphs wins above replacement). He also led the National League in DRS (Defensive Runs Saved), explaining that his defense is impressive and that he can play any position, not just second base.
After filling in for shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. last year due to his banned substance use and injury, Kim started at second base this season and then moved to third base when Manny Machado was injured. He has a 3.0 fWAR, the highest among San Diego players.
It’s unclear if Kim, who finished ninth in the National League among second basemen in Major League Baseball’s All-Star voting on Nov. 13, will be able to play in the All-Star Game. However, there are still avenues for him to fulfill his All-Star dream, including a managerial recommendation.
